You and your child have just learned he or she needs regular injections: now what? There are resources out there to help you succeed!

Injection Success was developed with the input of child-life specialists and nurses who counsel families like yours and includes topics such as:

• Incorporating injections into daily life. This will help make injections as normal as possible and reinforce the fact that injections are not a choice but a necessity.
• Making injections a family affair. This section sets out strategies to get the entire family involved and normalize “needle time,” so your child doesn’t feel isolated from his or her siblings.
• Injecting out of the home. This section includes tips for multi-resident families, going away to camp and travelling with injections.
• Empowering children with “choices.” This section discusses how to engage children in the different steps of the injection process. This may help build their self esteem - bringing them one step closer to giving their own injection one day.
